hey guys, i am new with iphone technology and i have quite a little problem. I have ios 4.4.3 jb and i want to upgrade it, without losing my contacts of course. Can somebody help me and give me some advise how?

Couple of questions and information we'll need before you proceed. First off, are you on an iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4? Next, go into your Settings>General>About... and let us know what's next to "Version" and "Modem Firmware." Also, are you relying on an Unlock to use your iPhone on a carrier other than it was originally used for. Help us our w/ these bits of info and we'll get you pointed in the correct direction.

first of all, i wanna thank you for replying my post.i am refering to iphone 4, version 4.3.3(8j2) , modem firmware 04.10.01 .And about your other question, i am sorry i didn't understand.

Sorry... are you using your iPhone 4 on the wireless carrier it was originally purchased through or is it Unlocked and being used on a different wireless carrier?

A,no my phone is exactly as i bought it with the only difference that its jailbroken.

Ok... now we're going in the right direction. :-) The direct method of Updating is to connect to iTunes and Update. However... that'll update you to iOS 5.1 and there isn't an Untethered JB like you have on iOS 4.3.3. Are you wanting to Jailbreak again after updating?

i want to jb it again, but i can wait untill they release an Untethered JB. So just connect itunes with my phone turned off? and just press upgrade?all my staff will be gone?contacts, photos?can i do something to save them?

You'll want to put your iPhone in DFU mode before doing the update via iTunes. That'll assure you have a clean restore. As far as saving information on your phone now.... Many, including myself, recommend setting your iPhone up as a "New Device" when updating from iOS 4.x to iOS 5.x. This, of course, will wipe any information you have stored... contacts, pics, notes, etc. Pics are simple to save. Plug in your iPhone and move them to your computer. Contacts... back them up to an email account via iTune sync.

i understood what DFU is, so i just put my phone in DFU mode connect to itunes and press upgrade?

good-good!So i just connect with itunes in DFU mode and press upgrade, right?after backing up of course?

thank you very much.i think i will manage it!
