GOC HD Weather and date set up?

I followed some instructions. I use gridlock to create blanks, put the transparent weather icon on the left then blank blank and calendar. I opened winterboard and chose weather and date, placed on top and nothing happens. Summerboard is also off. What am I missing? Thanks
