DIY Glasklart like icons

I really like the glasklart icons for its simplicity and minimalism. What is the easiest way to create icons like them(for all the icons that are not supported with glasklart, which is a lot, and destroy the whole glasklart feel to the theme)?

Basically I would like to use the stock app icons as the base, and edit them to the glasklart feel and dump them back. Which tool should I use(free would be great) and what steps should I follow(the easier the better)?

You need the creators PSD file. Also Gimp or Photoshop. Then you can make any icons look like Glasklart all day.
