First of all I'll say hi. I have been lurking from the outside using your wealth of knowledge to the best of my abilities. I do not understand all of what is said but I can follow instructions
biggrin.gif

firstly I have a 3gs with iOS5 and the old bootrom with firm 6.15.00

I started having trouble with cydia a few days ago after dl emuroms, cyanide and happiness, myfile, campfire, and a speedometer. At this time and even now never had cydelete installed or sbsettings. I do not know if any of these were truly the cause of my problems but everything started after this. even once these were installed I was still surfing around using cydia with no problem. It was the next day that I started to have problems with cydia even though the phone had never been turned off.

What happens is that cydia crashes when I try and launch.

I have been bak and forth on the net trying different things.

I have tried:

1) deleting all remnants of the previously mentioned apps etc using myfile (except cyanide and happiness is still a visible icon but i can't find it anywhere in the file directory)
2) deleting cydia and reinstalling thru rejailbreaking with redsn0w_win_0.9.9b6 and manually selecting iPhone2,1_5.0_9A334_Restore becuase I have the old boot rom.
3) rebooting with redsn0w_win_0.9.9b6 to try and have cydia reinstall
4) manually adding cydia thru ssh and winscp and making directories manually as per http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOcyaVv5nGY"]How to Reinstall Cydia over SSH and also trying as per http://modmyi.com/forums/file-mods/762594-manually-install-cydia-1-1-1-ifile-ssh-iphone-ipad-ipod-touch.html.......

I have tried each of these on their own and each combined still I get the following once I initiate install:

Executing command:
dpkg -i /var/root/Media/Cydia/AutoInstall/cydia_1.1.3_iphoneos-arm.deb 2>&1...

(Reading database ... 821 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace cydia 1.1.3 (using .../cydia_1.1.3_iphoneos-arm.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement cydia ...
Setting up cydia (1.1.3) ...

Finished with exit code: 0.

And this from the cydia.log

Your time and effort are greatly appreciated!

ps I really don't want to have to do a reinstall from itunes if I can't get cydia to work becuase everythign else works fine. would it be possible to circumvent using cydia and use cyder 2 and then ssh over the .deb's from cyder? (cyder won't find the iphone when I connect so I fugured I'd just ssh instead of dicking around.... talk about jumping thru a bunch of hoops...)

Thanks again!

That sucks...... You don't think there is any other way?

What about Deleting winterboard ? I shows up in the one errors no?

How about using cyder ? Is there any way to get around needing cydia to launch/install apps?
