Clicking sound when home button pressed

My iPhone 7 Plus has the latest iOS 12.3.1 and this is the first time these events have happened. I can fix it by restarting it but it comes back occasionally. Is there a fix to this problem? The phone isn’t even 2yrs old and I don’t use it as much as say my kids use theirs Lol. Any help is appreciated.

Is it through the speakers or from the button? Does it click if you turn off the phone and press the button?

It makes an almost staticky sound when pressed through the speakers. It stops when I restart it if I’m understanding you correctly.

Sounds like the Taptic Engine vibration. You can adjust the click by going to Settings - General - Home Button.
