Beautiful Game Studios, part of Square Enix Europe, announced today that Championship Manager 2011 for iPhone and iPod touch is out now on iTunes. Yes, soccer fans, wave your loved ones and any semblance of a social life goodbye, as if past versions of the game are anything to go by, you won’t be able to put this one down.

In a radical overhaul, the latest version of the insanely popular and addictive soccer management game has had hundreds of tweaks, improvements and new features added, along with thousands of additional players and dozens of teams, all with the aim of delivering a more intuitive game. Here’s Roy Meredith, general manager of Championship Manager, talking about the game:

"With Championship Manager 2011, we’ve focused on delivering a game that takes full advantage of the platform’s functionality and usability. We’ve also been careful to listen to feedback from our fantastic community, for example this year we’ve added Custom Formations – now users can drag and drop their players into any formation they want as well as setting individual runs for players."

Other added improvements, aside from Custom Formations, include Achievements, which can be published, along with your in-game progress, on Twitter and Facebook without ever having to leave the game.

A brand new look and feel to CM, combined with the introduction of a navigation wheel, should make it easier and more intuitive than ever to move about within the game, and you’ll never be more than a tap of the finger away from the screen you want.

The match day experience has also been completely revamped to provide the player with more instant control and influence on the match, enabling you to change the formation, instruct your players to be more aggressive, or order them to up the gamesmanship at any point in the match.

As ever, one of the most enthralling aspects of any CM game is the ability to build your own soccer dream team, with a full scouting system that lets you find your ideal star player from a cast of thousands around the world. Managers can search for players, scout them ahead of signing and engage in contract negotiations with the players' clubs.

Championship Manager 2011 is available to download now from the App Store here for £3.99/€5.49/$6.99.
