Camera resolution question

Tried a search and came up empty. I know my 4S will take 1080 video, but it seems the camera will not take wide screen photo shots - only 1.3333:1

Is there any way to change this or an app that lets me take wide screen pictures? I am running iOS 5.1.1 and am not JB

Thanks, I don't want to carry a camera around when I have my phone always at hand.

Thanks, iOS 6 has some benefits, but also some drawbacks for me. I was hoping to be able to take the 16x9 or so shots. I don't think I can take a panoramic shot that will be useful as a background for my computer. Here is a butterfly I shot on a walk a few months ago

Could you not just take a photo and then crop it to a 16:9 ratio? or am i missing something?

That's what I'll have to do. I will have to remember to frame the shot for a crop session.
