Hello!

Working with this iphone 14, pro i think, i have taken a number of pictures of animals outside our home through screened windows.

The screens come out with beautiful focus; the animals, not so much.

Tapping on the animal or square it is in is useless as the window screen interferes. Is there a way to quickly change focus?

Oh - iOS 26 or the latest with "glass" if i have that number wrong.

Thank you!!!

Is there another spot you can take pictures from? Anything between the lens and subject tends to degrade the image - even filters!
If not, try Focus Lock - estimate camera to subject distance, find a well lit subject at the same distance inside the house with good contrast (and on the same plane) and Lock Focus - press and hold desired focus spot until AE/AF Lock appears on your screen. I like to use the center of the screen for this process, and be careful - if you tap the screen, you’ll be back to square one! And keep in mind, exposure will be locked also, so you’ll most likely have to make an exposure adjustment before taking the pic. Not an easy process, best solution is a shooting spot with an unobstructed view.
