Audio Problem w/Car Charger

I'm listening to an audio book in the car w/my Apple headphones on my 4s, then when I plug in my Belkin car charger the audio stops because it thinks I'm plugging in a dock.

Is it plugging into a USB port in your vehicle... or just into the cig. lighter?

It's plugging into a cord that comes directly out of the cigarette lighter. If I have headphones on, then hook it up to that, the audio stops, but I can disconnect the headphones while it's charging, then plug them back in and they work.
