Until the Apple Watch, Apple has been keen on using LED panels for its iOS devices as well as computers. Currently, the only device that Apple makes with OLED is the Apple Watch, which display is being manufactured LG.

According to a new report from one of Japans leading newspapers Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, Foxconn is looking to team up with its supplier InnoLux to produce OLED displays. The new displays would use sixth-gen low temperature poly-silicon films and aim towards 2016.

Adding a OLED display to a device like an iPhone would surely improve the battery life (iPhone 6 Plus owners can't really complain). Apple has hired a few OLED experts and patented some OLED related technology in the past. We can't wait to see if Apple will integrate OLED into the iPhone.
