For months we have heard rumors of a new Apple phone that will be a 4-inch display device. The rumored name for the phone has oscillated between the iPhone 6C to the iPhone 5se. The latest intel suggests that neither of those rumored names is accurate, and that it will simply be called the iPhone SE.

Regardless of what name it finally lands with (if it even exists), there is another new rumor to go along with it. That is that it won't actually replace the iPhone 5S as the affordable iPhone of choice in Apple's lineup. Supposedly, the iPhone 5S will still be available but will be dropped to a super-affordable $225 USD.

Accordingly, this iPhone SE will still be a high-end/flagship device despite its small screen size, and should carry an off contract price between $400 and $500 USD. The rumored specs include:
  • A9 chip complete with NFC support
  • 64GB of storage
  • 12-megapixel rear camera
  • 802.11ac Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth 4.2
  • 1,642 mAh battery
To be honest, here at HQ we don't hold much stock in this intel. It seems to go against every standard practice Apple has engaged in for years. Still, we wanted to report it, just in case it turns out to be true.
