MobileBeat reports today that Apple has finally overtaken Nokia as the number 1 manufacturer for European mobile ad requests, according to a survey from Mobile Insights. [/FONT]

“The Q2 2011 results show another major inflection point for mobile advertising in Europe,” said InMobi’s Rob Jonas, VP of Europe and Middle East operations. “Smart devices, driven by iPad, iPhone, and Android devices, are now defining the mobile experience for the majority of Europeans.”
MobileBeat says that although both Nokia and Apple had over 2 billion ad impressions in Q2, Apple had a 90 million impression lead, with its ad share in Europe growing by 3.3 points to 19.5%, whereas Nokia’s fell by .9 points to 18.7%. To put it another way, one in five mobile ads in Europe in the last quarter were for an Apple device. Yet more signs that slowly but surely Apple is chipping away at Nokia’s dominance in the European market.
