AppleInsider reports today that according to figures just released yesterday from International Data Corporation (IDC) for Q2, Apple has now bypassed Nokia to become the world’s largest smartphone vendor. Another firm, Canalys, also reported very similar results on the same day, with both companies saying that Apple is well ahead of the chasing pack, having sold more than 20.3 million iPhones for the period, with Samsung coming in second with 17.3 million, and Nokia now in third place, with 16.7 million units sold. IDC attributed Apple’s iPhone success to its distribution, which consists of more than 200 carriers in more than 200 countries, its increased manufacturing capacity, and a strong demand for the device in emerging and developed markets for both business and consumer markets.

As impressive as these sales figures are, IDC points out that Nokia still holds the single-quarter volume record of 28.1 million units, but doubtless Apple will continue to edge further and further towards that figure, especially with the launch of the iPhone 5 on the horizon.

I love that fact. Nokia never listen to his customers. They are always busy "connecting people" hahaha
