With the new iOS 6, the Regular YouTube app has been changed to another one that you have to download, I know how to play YouTube in the background on the older iOS, however with the new YouTube app, the same technique doesn't work. Anyone know how to by pass this?

Unless Google used the approved background API calls and then was certified by Apple to use those API calls, there is no way on a non-jailbroken iPhone to get it to work.

And no, Google didn't use nor apply to use those API calls for the current version of the app.

I've read Jasmine and YouTube Player can both do this, but I've not tested them.

Are you saying the youtube app will not go into the multitasking switcher?

I don't know about the iPhone because I haven't updated yet, but the iPad plays YouTube videos in the background automatically. No need even to resort to the old trick of exposing the player controls.

I'm using Jasmine, btw.
