But how do you get the white dot on springboard that has the home button and gestures and favorites.? Know what I'm talking about.?

To answer your question, that white dot is a result of turning on an accessibility feature. To do, go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Assistive Touch and turn "Assistive Touch" on.
