I fix iPhones for a living.. I've replaced over 1000 screens and still going

A little over two years. It's amazing how many 3G, 3Gs & iPhone 4's with broken screens there are out there!

yes it is amazing some people just manage to break it.. but it does not break that easily

I've broke my screen once on my 3G. It looked like a spiders web. Still worked fine though! I'll see if I can find the picture...
