3G "Backup" file versus "*.ipsw" file

I’ve learned a few things about iPhone recently.

Those cables, the 30 PIN to USB connectors between an iPhone and an USB port make a difference if they are not Apple. Hard to believe but I went through holy heck with cheap cables I bought off eBay these past two weeks.

Now that I have an awareness of Operating System and Apple Firmware (iPhone1,2_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw) and how to restore, I can rephrase my question: Where is the “backup” of an iPhone? I have a complete backup of my hard drive from the old notebook before I migrated to a new computer. I just want that backup.

Please advise.

I'm certain there's a specific file it's saved it... just not sure where. LOL!! You can always do a search from your Start menu for the file your looking for & that'll pint you in the correct location.
