That's the notice you get when your iPhone is above safe operating temperature. The only way to get rid of it is to let the iPhone cool down before trying to use it.
If this doesn't help, you need to have it checked out. The best place is the Genius Bar at an Apple Store.

the phone is stone cold hasnt been used in a couple of days, didnt know if there was some sort of hard reset?
ive done the home button and the on/off start but still the same :(

Which software is installed on your iPhone?

If it's iOS 8x: there was a bug that activated the message in iOS 8 under certain circumstances (dim light).
Try disposing your iPhone's display to a bright light source. That should resolve the problem, and you'll be able to work for a while afterwards.

hi
thanks i will give that a try

dont know wot iso is on it never really looked to be honest

You can find the iOS in Settings - General - About - Version.

If possible, take your iPhone to the next Apple Retail Store, or contact Apple.

cant get into the phone at all to see iso.
and all its not in warranty so apple would be a waste of time

Try putting your iPhone in recovery mode. This will also update it to iOS 9.1, which is the latest software version.

Here are the instructions:
If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

If possible, backup your device before using recovery mode to restore it.

Reset your device afterwards:
Press and hold Home and Power button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Release both and let the iPhone power up on it's own.

Genius Bar appointments are free and if the solution to the problem is software related, that's usually free as well.

got it connected to itunes and restored and updated after a few attempts but just kept restarting over and over again and now it wont come on:(

I think the only thing left to you is to get a Genius bar appointment as suggested above.
Let us know the outcome.
