Found a iphone 3gs with a passcode...

Is there anyway I can use this phone? I have a old 3g with itunes on my comp for that but recently I found an 3gs 16g with a passcode on it. A friend and I tried to get into it by putting the phone in dmf mode and were gonna try to reset the phone completely. I don't know much about iphones really and was hoping there was something I could do.

What do u mean by "i found a 3gs 16g"
Call on of the numbers in the contact app and try to find the owner of the phone and return the phone.

you can format the iphone , by putting it in dfu mode. then jail break it!!

or u can use redsnow if you do not want to jailbreak it. But jailbreaking ur i phone is legal

Also, you should be aware that if the original owner has MobileMe subscription or similar they can track the phone if it's activated and/or synced... Just FYI, be prepared, better safe than sorry.

Enter DFU mode (Google it), then plug in your iPhone and restore with iTunes. I'd jailbreak it after restoring, if I were you. Good luck.
