If you are in a hotel room where wireless internet is not available but only wired internet, is there a cable of any type of connection that allows you to use internet on your iphone?

I think what your looking for is a Apple Airport Express.
I agree with that Apple airport express will give you wifi connection when mobile

Well roaming overseas is very costly.
Pardon my ignorance, what is "Apple Airport Express"
To cut the story short, I have booked a holiday in Japan for July, the hotel has wired connection only in the rooms.
In OZ, your carry-on luggage is only 7Kg and I bring important photograhphic equipment with me and I am at the border of 7Kg or slightly over.
Just done some research and I can see what it looks like now. So if you are overseas and if you plug the internet cable (that you would normally plug into your laptop) into the Apple Express, does that mean you should be able to access the internet or do Skype calls from your iphone 4?
