What method are you attempting with? Here's a solid how-to using "redsn0w" by one of our own...

The only difference is... the newest resn0w released is 0.9.9b9 and doesn't require you to point @ the 5.0 IPSW. redsn0w now natively recognizes the 5.0.1 IPSW.
