The incredibly popular cross-platform messaging app WhatsApp has just been updated with voice messaging, according to the official WhatsApp blog. “There’s no substitute for hearing the sound of a friend or family member’s voice,” says WhatsApp in the blog post announcing the new feature, adding that Voice Messaging will be released to all platforms simultaneously, including iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, Nokia, and Windows Phone. WhatsApp also has a handy Voice Messages FAQ and “How to Use” section on its blog for each specific platform. As far as using WhatsApp Voice Messages on the iPhone is concerned, the blog explains that Voice Messaging will enable you to instantly speak to a contact or group chat, just like how you can already use the app to text or send pictures to a group chat. All Voice Messages will be downloaded automatically. Sending a Voice Message via WhatsApp couldn’t be easier—you simply tap and hold the Voice Message microphone icon on the text input bar, and start recording. The app enables you to instantly cancel the message while you’re still recording, or after you’ve recorded it, should you find yourself regretting what you've just said.
