Does anyone know why this happens.. i have my emails sent to manual so they don’t get pushed through.

I manually push them through and I see I have emails..
I receive an email and it says it came at 17:12, but when I click inside the email it says sent at 10.23

What time was it sent at , and why does it do this?

It only does it to some emails , as most emails match times...

Its because server time is different on emails and it will be going through a proxy before reaching your device. Some servers operate from America so it’s never clear what time it is sent accurately.

Actually you cannot tell from Apple's iOS mail application when an email was sent. It doesn't provide access to the actual email header.

So lets use an example of an email I got earlier today, to show you what to look for should you get access to the header. Landry's Select Club sent me an advertisement. iOS reports that I got it on Monday, Jan 14th, 2018 at 2:01pm

Now for the very first issue. 2:01pm is arbitrary. There are exactly 24 general areas on this planet that will experience 2:01pm. Which one am I in? In this particular case I am CST with is offset from GMT/UTC by negative six hours (thank goodness CDT isn't active right now, which would require a different offset, lol). So technically the correct way to show the time would be 14:01 CST, 20:01 GMT/UTC, 14:01 -0600, or 20:01 +0000. Ain't time fun in the computer world :)

So iOS shows me a time based on my offset from GMT. One thing down. A few more things to go. So lets look at the actual header so we can tell exactly when it was sent.

The first two time/date stamps in orange is when outlook.com started its internal transport and received it from the senders server.
The time/date stamp in green is when the server that delivered it to outlook.com received it.
The time/date stamp in red is when the email was generated and first stored into an email server.
That black time/date stamp is when I created the email account. Oh yeah, a lot of email servers can be queried not only to see if you are a valid email address but also when it was created. BTW; I dislike that little feature. Thankfully not everyone enables it. But since I don't pay for my account, I don't complain.

So quick summary, if all the servers have the correct time and offset, using my time zone: At 2:00:43pm the email was created. At 2:01:23pm the email was handed to outlook, at 2:01:24 outlook delivered it to my account. So from creation time to my phone? Roughly 42 seconds.

Now for the funny part of all this. It's all BS in a sense. Why? Because any one of those time/date stamps, generated by the servers, could have the wrong time and/or wrong offset from GMT (UTC). But I am going to guess that isn't in evidence in this particular header.

Three final notes:
1) any time/date you see inside the email itself can be from any number of places. But it doesn't reflect when it was actually sent. That can only be determined by a properly formatted email header.
2) If you wanted to know how Apple's mail app can show you the "Unsubscribe" feature I highlighted it in purple below.
3) Outlook.com deals with so many emails, they are now tracking the data with a time/date stamp accurate to 10 thousandths of a second.
