Call up your network and ask them to unlock. Tell them you plan on putting an international SIM into the phone for a while. There will be a charge to do so though.

Welcome to iPF.net!! Any unlock, whether it be Software or Hardware, requires an iDevice Jailbreak. However, there is currently no way to unlock the 4.11.08 Baseband. Sorry... :-(

Chantelle makes a good point. However, if you're using At&t they WILL NOT unlock your iDevice.

Its crazy how at&t dont do this. Even for their long term paying contract holders?

Unfortunately... I've never heard of At&t Unlocking an iDevice for anyone. :-(

That sucks. That really surprises me. Suppose some people really have no choice other than to jailbreak their phone.

No US carriers will unlock an iPhone for any reason, we get the shaft over here.

The only adverse outcome to a Jailbreak is installing tweaks/packages that can possible put a heavier load on your battery.
