i had some girls numbers stored on my ipod touch 4g and didnt want my girlfriend to see them so i put a password lock code on it. i went on vacation for a month and totally forgot the password. i do not want to restore it and have to put everything back on and lose my jailbreak. i tried usuing DISKAID to get into the keychain folder and delete the file and that supposidly does the trick but it not work and then file keeps showing up. i am running 4.2.1 i believe. i am completely lost and basically just want to get back into my ipod. any help is appreciated. thank you.

Restoring is your only option, make sure you do not restore from backup or the passcode will be restored as well.

I have a friend with a similar problem on iPad. Is there any way to remove the password bit from the backup. They would like to backup the iPad but realize the password will be restored as well. Is there any way around this?

Not that I'm aware of, however there is PC and Mac based software available that will let your friend extract the data they want from their backup file.
