My standard for “Do You Hear What I Hear” has been Jack Jones’ version. (He also sang the theme for the “Love Boat” TV series.)

I again listened to many different renditions, wondering if there was something out there I liked just as much or even better. Late in the process, when I was about to make an alternate choice, I learned that Jack Jones passed away last year, so in tribute …

Do you have a sound system in your truck? …
Just the factory fit. It has 4 speakers and BlueTooth and gives a decent enough sound. I spend a lot of time in hotels so I have a couple of JBL Flip 6 speakers for those times. They get their feed from my MBA using the Audio MIDI app to create stereo sound.

Interesting character. In 1971, she was the second highest earning child singer in the world, after Michael Jackson, despite labouring with the disadvantage of not singing in English.

She later married Mike Oldfield, had a couple of kids with him and performed on some of his recordings, notably the album Islands and the non-album track Pictures In The Dark, which also featured the next generation of child performers, in the person of Aled Jones.

I'm not at all sure how Nightwish is supposed to fit into any sub-genre of metal, given the use of children's choir, the London Symphony orchestra and Floor Jansen's vocals. However, to quote Shakespeare, what's in a name?
