Strange wifi problem

My daughter has a 3GS and when you go into settings it say it`s recognizing her wifi, but it still says 3G(instead of the signal waves) in the upper left of the screen when accessing the internet. Hope I explained that right.

Yeah, been there and have seen that many times. Try turning off your 3G and cellular data settings and concentrate strictly on the wi-fi thing. Make that work. It should come in automatically if it's there on the screen; if not, and if no password is necessary, click on the little blue "right arrow" button to see your wi-fi protocols. If all the lines are filled with data, then just pull out of that screen and you should have the wi-fi emblem showing. Confused? Hope not. Get back here....
