People who like some extreme action on their iPhone and do a little jailbreaking on their device will be happy to know that from now on they too, can benefit from a device warranty, courtesy of SquareTrade.

This week, warranty service provider SquareTrade announced that it will start to cover any iPhones with their plans thus including the ominous jailbroken iPhones. This news should give an extra boost to people who were skittish about using jailbreaking in the first place, for fear of damaging the device.

SquareTrade is one the first companies to offer warranties as such. Neither Apple or AT&T will cover expenses for damaged jailbroken iPhone. Verizon on the other hand, seems to be considering the opportunity, provided that the jailbreak was not responsible for causing the damage in the first place. Sprint makes available only AppleCare+ for iPhone .

The warranty offered by SquareTrade starts at $59.99 for a single year and $99.99 for period of two years. The warranty covers several misfortunes: from broken screens to accidentally dropping your device in water all the way to batteries that no longer function properly.

SquareTrade announcement is followed by another one by the Zagg companies which also communicated that it will be from now offering ZAGGsafe warranty services for jailbroken iPhones. The price differences are minimal, as ZAGGsafe comes at $99 for the time period of two years.

At the moment, there is no word on whether SquareTrade will offer coverage for jailbroken iPads or iPods but the program is barely started, so we will keep you informed if we find out more.
