The European PlayStation Blog has today revealed that an Official PlayStation App will very soon be making its way to the App Store for iPhone and iPod touch. The app will enable users to look at their PlayStation Network trophies, as well as those of their friends, and to keep an eye on what games their friends are playing and when they’re online. The app will also keep you updated with all the latest PlayStation 3, PSP and PlayStation 2 news, including all the announcements on the European PlayStation Blog. Facebook, Twitter and email capabilities have also been built in to the app.
According to the blog, the current 1.0 version of the app will only be available in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and The Netherlands, although it adds that Sony is currently working on the next version that will support most SCEE countries and languages and will also enable commenting on the PlayStation Blog. The app will also be free to download, and Sony says that they will be adding even more features as time goes on.
The US PlayStation Blog has no mention of the app, so I’m guessing that for now it is a Europe-only release.
