MacRumors reports that Apple has today launched its annual “12 Days of Christmas” app, which can be downloaded now (see link below), but doesn’t actually kick into gear until December 26. The universal iOS app is a way of keeping you up to date on each of the 12 giveaways in the app store that will appear daily from December 26. You don’t actually need to have the app to take advantage of the giveaways, it’s just a way of making sure that you don’t forget about them, and the app will also have daily push notifications to let you know when a new free gift becomes available. The downloads are usually free games, free apps, free songs and movies, so it's well worth taking the time to check the app out.
The only catch with the whole thing is that usually the app and the 12 gifts are only available in European iTunes stores, with the U.S. and many other countries all over the world unfortunately excluded because of complications with regional content licensing issues, according to MacRumors.
