Sleep / wake button Help

When I press the sleep button from the Home screen I hear a distinct shutter sound. From the Lock screen I hear nothing. I'm aware of the sleep/home combo to get a screen shot. I've checked my photos after the shutter sound and no screen shots are there. Is there anyway to silence the sleep button?

That's the normal way the sound is supposed to work. If you want to silence the sound when you press the power/sleep button, go to Settings> Sounds>Lock Sounds and slide the switch to off(no green showing). Now it will be silent when you press the power button from anything but the lock screen.
