Skype has just unveiled its newly redesigned iPhone and iPad app, Skype 6.0, which is available to download from the App Store now. Announcing the redesign via its official blog, Skype says that it has redesigned the app to be “much more natural and intuitive, and have added a bunch of new capabilities to make it even more delightful to use.”
Skype says that the navigation in the new app is “simple, familiar and gets you to your conversation fast.”
The new app lets you use swipe gestures to make calls quickly and manage messages, and also makes it easier to share photos, web links, emoticons and your location during a voice or video call on Skype.
Search has also been enhanced in the new app with the introduction of the “recents” tab to help you find contacts and groups more easily in your messages.
These features are also all now available on Skype for iPad as well as iPhone. You can now share your location, send large emoticons, view web link previews and send and receive photos all from Skype for iPad. And you can also now start a group chat or group voice call directly from your iPad.
