Music identification service Shazam updated its mobile app on Monday to version 8.3. Shazam 8.3 brings deeper Spotify and Rdio integration, as well as access to Global chart, Trending Shazams and more, under the new Charts tab.

Spotify and Rdio subscribers can now rate and listen to songs using Shazam. Previously, Shazam would open up one of the aforementioned apps separately to play songs. With the Shazam 8.3 update, songs a user chooses reroute from the subscription service and play right within the Shazam app.

Shazam also goes a step further, saving the user's time, by adding a 'My Shazam Tracks' playlist on either Spotify or Rdio. This means that the user can open up either music subscription service and see a playlist showing all songs identified by Shazam.

All of these new features are available for non-paying Shazam users and $7 Shazam Encore subscribers. The Shazam 8.3 update is now available in the App Store for free.
Shazam 8.3 changelog:
  • It’s easier than ever to connect to Spotify or Rdio – tap ‘Play All’ on any list of songs or go to Settings. You can then listen to full tracks and rate them with the player.
  • Once you’ve connected, all your Shazams will be saved to a ‘My Shazam Tracks’ playlist in Spotify or Rdio. We’ve fixed a few issues so this should now be running smoothly.
  • All the Shazam charts are now in one place. Tap the Charts tab to get instant access to the Global chart, Trending Shazams and more.
  • Automatically find popular music around you with Auto Shazam. Flip the switch on your homescreen and it will carry on matching, even when you leave the app.
