I just noticed when I start TU, it says "you currently have set hosts to Cydia on Exit and I should uncheck this box. The box is not checked - ????
Oh yes u should as it needs to be pointed to Apple i bet this is the issue all along.

Yes you need to uncheck that box, that is what I meant by "make sure you're not blocking apples servers in your HOSTS file"
But the box is already UNCHECKED -
Ok hmm i am confused as to what is occuring now.
Meaning i am lost
Uninstall itunes and reinstall it fresh install and then make sure you have downloaded the 5.1.1 ipsw file again freshly from unleashes link he provided.
Turn of UAC in windows 7 and reboot computer.
Now open itunes and hit shift to load up the 5.1.1 ispw file and setup as new device.
If all goes well
Download absinthe 2.0.4 version and jailbreak that puppy.
Make sure the hosts box is unchecked where ever it asked you to do so, this is if the phone was JB already, but if is setup as a new device it would wipe out the old JB and cydia.
I don't want to speak too soon, but it's further than ever so far, shows restoring iPhone software...looks like it may just work.

Well, I have no FN idea what was done differently this time, other than as administrator, but it worked. If you guys were here, I'd buy you each a sandwich and a hooker and you could decide for yourself which one to have first!

Great to hear i just popping back in as 1st period is over and LA winning 1-0
I wondering if it is a USB driver issue or the USB cable issue, sometimes they go wonky and files get corrputed.
Keep an eye on it is all and try to eliminate process of elimination for next time.

same process just backup take encription pass off and load the ispw file or better yet just update to 5.1.1 and setup as new device and run absinthe to jailbreak then after all done, restore from your backup.
