Samsung expected to remove headphone jack from Galaxy S8.JPG

AppleInsider reports that Samsung looks set to follow in Apple’s footsteps and get rid of the headphone jack in its forthcoming Galaxy S8, despite ridiculing Apple’s decision to remove the headphone jack from the iPhone 7 at the time. Maybe next time Samsung won't be so quick to poke fun at Apple!

According to the latest supply chain rumours about Samsung’s new phone, as reported by Sammobile, it appears that the analog headphone jack is indeed missing.

And in another change similar to one that Apple has been widely rumoured to be making in the future, Sammobile also says that Samsung is expected to remove the home button from the Galaxy S8, with the fingerprint sensor to be embedded in the actual display, which will make Samsung’s phone the first to feature true optical fingerprint identification.

Of course whether or not the Samsung Galaxy S8 is actually the first phone to have this new feature all depends on when it is actually released, and when the iPhone 8 is released by Apple in 2017, as Apple’s phone is also expected to have several revolutionary new features.

Samsung's approach is slightly different to Apple. The hole will still be there, but will be used as an exhaust port for venting toxic gases from the exploding battery.
