Ringtone Problem

I have specific ringtones assigned to certain contacts. The problem is that when that person calls the ringtone that is set in settings / sounds / ringtone rings. Any suggestions why this might be happening? When I go into edit contact it shows the ringtone that I downloaded but it does not play.
