Hi board members.

I've just activated my new iPhone 4s and am wondering if there are recommendations for a healthy battery life?

Cheers, Mal from Cessnock AU

There are no special requirements for dealing with modern Lithium Ion batteries and how to extend their lifespan. Just use your device normally, charge the battery when the phone tells you it needs a charge, and press on. LIon batts will last a very long time with normal use -- just keep them away from excessive heat!!!

Thank you EWyatt - just checking. You know how it is when you get a new phone, it's such a special moment (weird aren't we?)

I used my 3Gs for two years. Generally connected to my pc, only running it on batteries overnight and occassionally when I venture out and away from my comfort zone - never had a battery problem.

Thanks for your response.

Cheers, Mal

There's a lot of advice for extending battery life. If you do a search you should find lots of advice. I have turned off all system services under location services. I have bluetooth off. I only have location services on for apps I use frequently and really need it. I have e-mail set to push and fetch manually. I have Ping turned off under the Restrictions setting. I don't use iCloud...so all of those settings are off.

All these settings are ones I find that work for me, but you may not like them for you. Others have different settings that work for them. There are several battery threads.... Enjoy your new phone! :)

I saw the ping in settings but I don't know what that is.

Neither do I dengirl - must google it (I think "ping" in computer speak generally refers to "touching base" to ensure things are working ok? But I may be WAY off the mark here)

Thanks for that xrayeyes. So I followed the link and will definately NOT be interested in using that crap - lol

(Sounds a bit like twitter and doesn't interest me either)
