Why would anyone paint teak?
These are city owned benches and a few years ago someone who didn’t like the look of weathered teak decided to paint designs on the bench outside her shop. It caught on and now all the very expensive teak benches are painted with designs that start peeling within a few months of being painted.
They don’t seem to know or care that teak is a oily hardwood that doesn’t take paint very well.

I believe there are other finishes that would work well AND protect that beautiful wood. Teak is really a lovely wood. It should have been finished with a product that would have shown it off while protecting it.
