Hello everyone-

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I cannot seem to find the answer.

I just purchased a new laptop, and successfully moved my complete iTunes library to the new laptop.

What I am concerned about is that when I connect my iPhone, it is going to not recognize the computer, and will not sync properly and/or delete the content of my phone.

How do I force my iPhone to recognize the new computer without losing any data on my iPhone?

Thanks in advance.

Not a stupid question at all! First thing you should do before even hooking up your phone is go into the preferences and under general>devices>prevent iPods,iPhones, iPads from syncing automatically...CHECK!

Authorize the new computer (drop down under "Store")

If your old computer is available, make sure you do a back up there. Then also do a backup first thing when you connect to the new computer. You can check and uncheck any music, apps, or photos that you want to sync or not.

I may have missed something, but if you take care of the option not to sync automatically, you will be able to play around with the settings and look into it further.
