Problems with sounds

I just got the iPhone 4 and I've had it for about a week now. Recently it stopped making the clicking noises and the text message alerts and even the ringer don't work. It only vibrates and acts like it is on silent when it isn't. I don't know what the issue is. If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know, thank you!

Are you sure the silent switch isn't flipped down? This is located just above the volume button on the side.

That's not good! I hope it isn't that. I have a heavy duty case on my phone from a company called lifeproof that protects it from water damage, dirt, shock, etc. I've had it on since I bought the phone. I definitely recommend it.
