Not sure what I’m looking at, but it works!

My guess is a glass or acrylic covered overhang or eave covered with a loose mesh fabric? …
The snow on my roof is melting. This is a mixture of snow and ice, sliding down very slowly. I should have added an emoji, to make it more obvious that the “curtains“ are a joke. It would look nice though, but curtains like these would cover the gutter.

We eventually turned back 4-5 miles (6.4-8 km) from the park entrance because of widespread ash fall-out (tephra).

The first pic is the car’s windshield. The rain-like splatter was caused by the falling debris, not rain. The falling debris was visible and audible. The second pic is of a piece of ash approximately 3 inches wide (7.62 cm). It’s very light and fragile. Grape-sized pieces were reported in Volcano Village approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) from the eruption site. Still hot pieces were reported at a viewing area inside the park.

The tephra pattern is unusual. Prevailing wind patterns usually carry debris away from residential and park viewing areas. Park viewing areas were eventually closed for safety reasons …
