Trying to figure out how photos are stored on iPhone and how much space they take up.
I thing everything on iPhone has copy in "Camera Roll"???
And then if I save Dave to another "album" there are two copies on iPhone???

Settings says I have 653 photos on iPhone.

See the attached image showing where the photos are. How does this come out to 653??

Your photos are stored only in the camera roll. Any other albums contain, not other copies of the photos, but links to the original photos in the camera roll. This is designed this way to save on storage space.

That makes sense, but then why does setting show more photos than what is showing in camera roll

Did you import any photos from your computer through iTunes? This would account for the disparity in the numbers.
