phone texts still being send to i phone.

Hello this is very important that the answer is 100% correct. Sorry to make sound so dramatic.
So.
Removed a sky sim card from iphone and put in an unlocked android phone, Phone calls can be received to the android phone without issue. However texts are still going to the original iphone and not being received by the android phone.
How can this be rectified please?
One thought is it only i messages that go to the original iphone. Or would it messages from any device?

If you switch to another OS, you have to turn off iMessages and FaceTime on the iPhone’s settings before removing the SIM card.
