Orange/yellow button on iPhone 5?

Is the vibrator slide button thing, the yellow or orange button... Is that a protector that I should take off or is it supposed to be on there? I can't find anything about it

Picture would be nice... I think your talking about the mute button. It pretty much turns the ringers and sounds off when enabled
