The next generation Apple TV is expected to be unveiled alongside the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus in September. The device, which hasn't been updated in over two years, is rumored to feature a brand new look, an App Store, and a new remote with a built-in touchpad.

While we've heard many times that the device will be getting a new look externally, not much has been said about the look of the software. On Monday, 9to5Mac reports that the user interface on the A8-powered Apple TV will be getting a new look as well. The blog writes that Apple TV's new UI will resemble that of iOS 8, going from the old dark look to a brighter one.

"While the new system is likely to improve the current scrolling list of large icons, we are told that the general aesthetic will be similar to the current look."

The two big features on this newly upgraded set-top box will likely be App Store integration and Apple's forthcoming rumored television service. We'll see what else Apple has thought of early next month.
