Newsstand is a new app, folder, and feature in iOS 5 that starts to take magazine and newspaper subscriptions seriously on the iPad. We've already seen Apple change their agreement and upgrading their OS to allow subscriptions to content. A great example of this is a 12 month subscription to Time or The Daily. Newsstand will detect new issues as they are available and will simply put them on your Newsstand shelf issue by issue. This actually will make it look like a real Newsstand and give you the look and feel of collecting issues in a single place. Currently there aren't any companies that support this, but the closer we get to iOS 5 the sooner we'll see how this all works in real time. Stay tuned as we unravel iOS 5!

yes the app refuses to go into a folder

Nope. It's rather annoying. I think iOS 5 recognises it as a folder, and you can't put a folder in a folder...
