Is there a way to remove the bookmarks while viewing a web pages horizontals?

Tap the book icon. This will either remove the bookmarks from your screen, or show them.

When the phone is on its side the icon won't go away

The navigation bar (including the book icon) should disappear when you scroll through a site.
