New iPhone user, error connecting to app store

First time iPhone user, got the 4s and had no problem the first week. But the past 2 days everytime I go to the app store to do an update or try to install an app it says "unknown connection error". I've double checked the password and it all works fine on itune and also in the app store on my ipad. It is a big pain to have to connect to the computer and sync to make updates. Any ideas for fixing this would be GREATLY appreciated!!

What if you reset all settings on the phone? No joy still?

Go to settings> general> reset> reset all settings/

Check the time and date on the phone also, all of my iPods had this problem this week, but thus far none of the iPhones in the house have.

What do I lose if I do a reset of the settings?

Nothing to lose, only your settings, your emails passwords, network settings, iTunes app store password, background picture, lockscreen picture and so on will be reset to default and you will have to re-enter your passwords and other stuff back again. All your files, documents, apps will remain unchanged.
