New iphone owner

First I tried the search thread to see if this problem was already posted so I wouldnt be doing anything redundant.I didn't find anything.I had a pantech ease with the data plan for att but the screen broke.I wanted a iphone and bought one from a friend who upgraded to a 4g.I put my sim card in went to itunes and redid the phone.when I try the internet I get you are not subscribed to a cellular data plan prompt.Thank you any help would be appreciated.

I have no other answer other than a recommended trip to the ATT store to explain your situation and subscribe to a workable plan.
