i just noticed that there doesn't seem to be a way to check when a received text was sent,does anyone know if this is possible?

I think on earlier phones only if jailbroken and on os5 only if it's an iMessage

oh right thanks,didn't notice until today when i wanted to check when a text was sent,i think that messaging on 4s is pretty basic,another thing i found is that you can't get a delivery message for texts that you send.

No, was an oversights I think on iPhone, get yourself what's App and tell your friends with smart phones to get it too, like texting but uses your wireless if available , far better, no limit and free to send pictures video And sound

another thing i found is that you can't get a delivery message for texts that you send.

I get a delivered message when I send a text via iMessage

I thought it was in 'settings' but it's a read receipt when you send a msg to others, not when you receive one.
